NEW: Unintentional
Fall-Related Injuries Among
Massachusetts Older Adults
Who We Are:
The Massachusetts
Prevent Injuries Now! Network was founded in March 2006 as part of Centers
for Disease Control-funded project to support injury prevention efforts at
the state level. The Network, originally known as the Massachusetts Injury
Community Planning Group, provides public health and safety professionals
around the Commonwealth with a unique opportunity to share information and
data, forge partnerships, and advocate for sensible public health and safety
initiatives at both the state and federal levels.
Since its inception, the Prevent Injuries Now! Network has
partnered with leading national experts in the field of injury prevention to
reduce the incidence and severity of unintentional injuries in the
Commonwealth.
What we do:
The
Prevent Injuries Now! Network aims to create workable, community-based
solutions to the increasing problem of injuries in our state. As our guide,
we use the DPH’s State Injury Prevention plan which
summarizes and illustrates the public health costs of poisonings, fire and
burn injuries, falls among the elderly, traumatic
brain injury, automobile crashes, and a host of other issues.
